Fresh fruit and vegetable distributor Fuji Produce has selected the ReposiTrak Traceability Network to power its food traceability program.

ReposiTrak uses an inventory management and out-of-stock reduction Software as a Service (SaaS) platform to connect suppliers and trading partners ahead of a Food and Drug Administration deadline for compliance with its Food Traceability Final Rule. Users can exchange FDA-required Key Data Elements for each Critical Tracking Event in the supply chain.

Section 204(d) of the Food Safety Modernization Act (commonly known as FSMA 204), had been set to take effect this January. Last March, the FDA said it would extend the compliance date by 30 months “using appropriate procedures at a later time, including publishing a proposed rule in the Federal Register,” according to a statement on its website.

“Fujii Produce has always prioritized food safety, quality, and reliability for our customers,” Jon Pienovi, Fujii Produce chief operating officer of Oregon-headquartered Fuji Produce, said in a news release. “By partnering with ReposiTrak, we’re going beyond compliance with FDA requirements for items on the Food Traceability List. We’re taking a leadership role in building a stronger, more transparent supply chain by capturing traceability data across all products we handle.”

In March 2025, ReposiTrak expanded the capabilities of its automated network to allow suppliers to share traceability data with any customer. Suppliers can send data to any retail, wholesale or restaurant customer through ReposiTrak’s cloud-based network for as low as $49 a month, according to a news release.

“Traceability is a critical component of today’s food supply chain,” Randy Fields, ReposiTrak chairman and CEO Randy Fields, said. “Fujii Produce is setting an example by taking action now to unite its suppliers and customers on a single, streamlined traceability platform.”

The ReposiTrak Traceability Network applies a 500-plus point error-checking process to all traceability data and works directly with suppliers to correct issues.
